The Importance of Prayer

The times we are living through have been foretold both by Our Blessed Mother and in the Holy Word of God. For the second time this writer has decided to stop commenting on the issues of the day and concentrate on prayer. The situation has gone past anything I can do to change it and there is always the danger of scandal.

This column will concentrate on prayer including the Holy Rosary (see below) given the fact that we place our faith on God and His Son Jesus Christ and as He requested trust Him and hand our problems, our troubles, over to Him.

Join us in our journey.

Lent provides us with a wonderful opportunity to reflect on where we are with the Lord.

It is a wonderful way of reliving the final journey of Christ to his death. Between Monday 22nd March through to Holy Saturday we intend to concentrate on each station leading to the glorious events of Easter Sunday.

On this day we will reflect on a lessor known station - the Resurrection of Jesus.

The stations I intend to follow were composed by St Alphonsus Ligouri.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Let us pray

O Jesus I Surrender myself to You, You take over. Amen

MORNING PRAYER

Lord this morning

enlighten my mind with truth

inflame my heart with love

inspire my will with courage

pardon what I have been

sanctify what I am and

order what I shall be.

Amen

Today we celebrate

Saturday of the 4th week of Lent

Lord, I give You my life,

my cares, my concerns and my future.

I trust You in all things. I surrender all.

Help me to trust You more each day

and to turn to You in complete abandonment.

Jesus, I trust in You.

WORD OF OUR LORD

John 7:40-52 - The Law does not allow us to pass judgement on a man without hearing him

Several people who had been listening to Jesus said, ‘Surely he must be the prophet’, and some said, ‘He is the Christ’, but others said, ‘Would the Christ be from Galilee? Does not scripture say that the Christ must be descended from David and come from the town of Bethlehem?’ So the people could not agree about him. Some would have liked to arrest him, but no one actually laid hands on him.

The police went back to the chief priests and Pharisees who said to them, ‘Why haven’t you brought him?’ The police replied, ‘There has never been anybody who has spoken like him.’ ‘So’ the Pharisees answered ‘you have been led astray as well? Have any of the authorities believed in him? Any of the Pharisees? This rabble knows nothing about the Law – they are damned.’ One of them, Nicodemus – the same man who had come to Jesus earlier – said to them, ‘But surely the Law does not allow us to pass judgement on a man without giving him a hearing and discovering what he is about?’ To this they answered, ‘Are you a Galilean too? Go into the matter, and see for yourself: prophets do not come out of Galilee.’

THOUGHT FOR TODAY (taken from our 'Prayers and Reflections' section)

To build peace we first must have peace in our hearts - the peace of Christ. From this everything else follows. May the peace of Christ settle within us and may that peace permeate within our homes and our community spreading its love.

Always Remember - JESUS LOVES YOU

ANTIPHON

By the precious Blood of Christ,

the Blood of a spotless and unblemished Lamb,

we have been redeemed

" I see how many actual graces God grants me; these support me ceaselessly. I am very weak, and I attribute everything to the grace of God.”

Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska:

Divine Mercy in My Soul

The Word of The Lord - From the Old Testament

Jeremiah 11:18-20 · 'Let us cut him off from the land of the living, so that his name may be quickly forgotten'

The Lord revealed it to me; I was warned. O Lord, that was when you opened my eyes to their scheming. I for my part was like a trustful lamb being led to the slaughter-house, not knowing the schemes they were plotting against me, ‘Let us destroy the tree in its strength, let us cut him off from the land of the living, so that his name may be quickly forgotten!’

But you, the Lord of Hosts, who pronounce a just sentence,

who probe the loins and heart,

let me see the vengeance you will take on them,

for I have committed my cause to you.

Each day I pray that the Lord

will bless you and keep you.

May He show His face to you

and have mercy.

May He turn His countenance to you

and give you peace.

The Lord bless you!

Amen.

Always remember - Jesus loves you.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in our hour of conflict. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

The Holy Rosary

Our Blessed Mother explained to us what would happen in the World and in the Church if people continued to turn from God. One of the things she asked us to do was to say the Rosary everyday. Please find a few minutes today to fulfil her request.

Today we pray

The Joyful Mysteries.

Only in God is my soul at rest.

In Him comes my salvation.

We finish as we begun

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
