Arrangements for the reopening of St Josephs

 1. Regulations for the celebration of public worship in Malaga

The regulations for the celebration of public worship in the Catholic churches of the Diocese of Malaga apply until there is a medical solution to Covid-19, advising the utmost prudence and taking into account any changes depending on the health situation.

 1.- Term

These measures will remain in effect until there is a medical solution to the disease.  Any modification will be communicated by the General Secretariat.

 2.- General provisions

The obligatory nature of the Sunday precept is restored in the diocese of Malaga, always respecting the preventive measures to avoid possible outbreaks.  However, those people who for a "serious cause" have an impediment to attend in person (sick, disabled or others) are dispensed with by universal law, and are recommended to dedicate time to personal or family prayer.  The holy water basins will remain empty.  The doors of the churches will be kept open at the entrance and exit of the celebrations so as not to have to knock handles or knobs.

3.- At the entrance of the Eucharistic celebrations

It will be organized with responsible persons, the opening and closing of the entrance doors to the temple, the distribution of the faithful in it, the control so that there are no crowds, the orderly access at the time of communion, and the exit from the  church at the end, respecting at all times the established minimum safety distance, which is currently 1.5 meters.  Hydroalcoholic gel or similar authorized disinfectant will continue to be offered at the entrance and exit of the church.  If a temple has two or more doors, a different use can be established for entry and exit.  The maximum capacity must be published in a visible place in the space for worship.

According to what was published in the Order of July 14, 2020 of the Ministry of Health and Families of the Junta de Andalucía, as of July 15, the use of masks in both open and closed spaces is mandatory, including accordingly  religious celebrations of any kind

 4.- During the celebrations

People who go to places of worship must each have an individual seat, in any case complying with the measure of interpersonal distance established by law.

There will be no sheet of edges nor will any sheets be distributed with readings or any other object or paper.

The collection basket will not be passed during the offertory, but the service of order will offer it at the exit of the mass, following the security criteria indicated.

The chalice, the paten and the ciboriums will be covered with the “pall” during the Eucharistic prayer.

The celebrating priest and the other communion ministers will disinfect their hands immediately before and after distributing the communion.

The peace greeting, which is optional, if done, should be limited to a nod of the head next to the words "peace with you", without coming into direct contact.

The individual dialogue of communion ("The Body of Christ". "Amen"), will be pronounced collectively after the answer "Lord, I am not worthy ...", distributing the Eucharist in silence.

In the event that the priest is older, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist will be established to distribute communion.

The faithful will preferably receive communion in the hand respecting the safety distance.  If one of the faithful insists on receiving communion in the mouth, they will be invited to receive it when all the other faithful have received Communion.  The minister of communion must in any case observe the proper hygiene precautions, especially if there is physical contact.  Communion is not offered under both kinds.  In the event of a concelebration, let the priests do so by intention.

5.- At the end of the celebrations

An orderly exit from the church will be established, avoiding groups of people inside the temple and at the door.

After the celebration of the Eucharist, the faithful who have not participated in it, but wish to receive communion, may do so while keeping the established interpersonal distance.

Continuous disinfection of the temple, benches, liturgical objects, etc… will be provided, keeping in mind the recommendations sent by the Heritage Department of our Diocese.
